Royalty
Payment Structures
The
database includes eight basic variations in royalty
payment structures:
- No
direct payment (royalty-free) - usually in exchange
for credibility, public service, or some other form
of non-monetary payment;
- One
time flat dollar fee;
- Annual/monthly
payments (i.e., annual/monthly flat dollar amount,
annual/monthly dollar amount based on dollars or
units of sales, or annual monthly dollar amount
based on a percentage of dollars or units of sales);
- Flat
Fee dollar amount plus a percentage over X dollars
or Y units of sales;
- Annual/Monthly
dollar amount plus a percentage over X dollars or Y
units of sales;
- Flat
percentage of dollars or units of sales;
- Variable
percentage depending on the amount of dollar or unit
sales;
- Other/undisclosed.
